Most Lore questions may not be something you wish to share, be it background related or for plotting and planning and scheming. However between the possibilities of me contradicting myself ( I will try my VERY best not to do this, and if I do, please call me up on it, as the plot does need to be consistent, even if nothing else is.), or that you may have a lore question that effects multiple players, OR you are just curious about something, there is a need for this thread.
Also someone asked me.
So, if you have lore questions you are willing to ask in public, ask them here.

So, on large ships, are the rank and file ji-samurai or ashigaru?

Depends to a degree largely on the clan, however in most cases its Ashigaru.
Most ships have more Heimin then Samurai (except transport ships) as their are many rolls a Samurai wont do. In some cases, the Mantis and Unicorn most famously, Heimin will actually end up in positions that most other Great Clans would reserve for Samurai, like the Pilot. Making Heimin forfil rolls like, "doctor" and "Engineer" solves some of the issues that Automation has had to make the Heimin caste less needed, and thus maintain the Celestial Order. Of course, they always have Samurai Supervision in this positions.
This Automation situation also creates more room for Ashigaru, and so a lot of the Clans of the Empire do use them as rank and file for combat, especially aiming the artillery guns, or standing by likely boarding points. Boring Duties that will not earn one much glory. Certain Clans however, due to small but highly effective army size, a nicer attitude to Heimin or just sheer volume of Samurai, (In other words, Phoenix, Crane and Lion) don't tend to utilize Ashigaru as much as they aren't as needed.
All of them use them to some degree of course. And in times of great war, Ashigaru will be called up to fill more rolls in the army.

Hi! Question: What is the amount of 'time' given our interesting time layout, to do a meditation or tea ceremony roll to get Void Back? I know not in mid conversation with an oracle and the forces of Jigoku about to be unleashed behind you, but...you know...some time between then and dinner? Just not sure.
Thanks!

From my interpretation, they are referring to a Chaji, rather then the more social and shorter gathering (After doing some quick study of tea Ceremonies) and as such if you wished to preform such a thing it would take at least 1 hour. Should you prefer something more elaborate, it would take up to 4 hours, but I am going to assume unless otherwise specified that it takes only 1 hour and you have time for other side scenes.
