Yeah, we’ll try something when you get back. I’m going to try and play Dragon so I can at least try enjoying the game.
I don’t mind losing, I’m sort of used to it by now. But I’d like a game I can enjoy, at least where I had a chance. And whenever I play against a Phoenix now, I always walk away feeling frustrated.
Cancels seems to have a disporporatate effect on us as we are so dependent on our conflict decks to get our guys out. And people are ready for us when we charge, or use Cavalry Reserves, Banzai or Captive Audience. I have lost conflicts at the stronghold that I otherwise would have won but for cancels. Like Guest of Honour or Forged Edict.
I know it see,s as if I am way to dependent on getting one card to work...but these are our really good ones and sort of fit the theme of the Unicorn. And I swear some cards even work BETTER with us, like Legion of One.
We need some in clan cancels of our own just so we can do our thing. This is why Nergui is a step in the right direction.and Shono, when he gets here.
Maybe, maybe things will get better in the next cycle. But I doubt we will see any progress until we get our clan pack.

Here’s the sort of card I’d like to see, meant to simulate battle lines breaking when cavalry charge through.
Overrun
Unicorn Event
Cost 3, Inf 3
Action: If you are attacking in a MIL conflict and have at least at least 3 characters with the Cavalry trait, move this many of your opponent’s characters home.

...that's ridiculous to my mind. It's "Pay 3 fate—win a military conflict."
If it was 2 fate cost, to give a +2 Military bonus to each participating character with cavalry, or bow each participating character without Cavalry, that would seem fairer to me...

Excuse me while I watch the Phoenix do six impossible things before breakfast. The card is basically six fate, as you need to put at least three cavalry characters in play. Through dynasty or through Cavalry Reserves. And if it’s cancelled, or Cav Reserves is cancelled, or you opponent manages to assassinate or send Home one of your three cavalry characters then it’s all over.

The Phoenix don’t have any cards that essentially auto win a single conflict just based on a single action, and denying your opponent the pr sense of three whole characters in a fell swoop...too powerful. No card for anyone allows two send homes at once, let alone three. If the potential to counter the effect of such a powerful card is to rely on Assassination or countering the card itself, that’s not very legitimate for counterplay, I feel.

The thing is these counters work too often though. It’s one of the reasons why Unicorn is tough to play. What we at good at doing, others are good at stopping. Like stopping a Cavalry Reserves.
I think it is a bit much, maybe borne from my saltiness. I would love multiple “go away” card. Other clans have a double charge.

So...tried a few clans, trying to learn. Still not winning. Still getting blocked at every turn by everything I try and do.
Spent so much on this hobby, money getting the cards and time trying to get people in my area to play. And I haven't won a single game since October of last year.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong and I am starting to feel like I am just wasting my time.

I haven't played against you in a while, so can't offer comment til next time we do, but don't give up yet! I should have a chance to play in around 3-4 weeks, given current workload expectations, depending on how easily I also find a new place to live ^^;

oof, that is a bit early, yeah. The time conversion is a lot better if we do morning for you and evening for me since 7pm for me is 10am for you. But I realize that schedules being what they are that might be difficult.

MOrning for me is impossible with a three year old, sorry. I’m generally only gaming in the evenings.
I could extend it an hour or two later.
