Legend of Five Rings and Firefly

So, next Easter I'm going to do a mash up of L5R Empire of Emerald Stars and Firefly, making the characters samurai or the like. It is sort of fun and I do like the idea of having more space samurai chibis.

So, here are my concepts.

Mal - Firefly Clan - Akodo Bushi - Hotaru Urei

Urei was leading the Firefly Clan army when their home planet Shijima fell to the forces of the Lion Clan and his clan was wiped out. Since then he's been roaming the space lanes in his ship, searching for a purpose and trying not to care.

Zoe - Firefly Clan/Unicorn Clan Matsu Berserker - Ide Seika

Former Firefly Clan, trained along side Urei and they fought together at Shijima. She is now  the first mate on his ship and is married to the pilot, Ide Togu.

Wash - Unicorn Clan - Ide Emmisary/Ide Trader - Ide Togu

A true pilot and at home in the skies, he is married to Ide Seika.

Jayne - Mantis Clan - Yoritomo Bushi - Yoritomo Senshin

The muscle of the team and in charge of "public relations".

Kaylee - Crab Clan - Kaiu Engineer - Kaiu Kiyoi

The little sister of the gorup and a talented engineer.

Simon - Phoenix Clan - Asako Loremaster/Asako Scholar - Asako Henasu

The oldest son of a prominent Asako kuge courtier, dedicated scholar and would have succeeded his father had he not given up everything to save his sister.

River - Phoenix Clan - Isawa Shugenja/Isawa Tessen - Asako Kawa

Younger sister of Asako Hanasu, she was identified as gifted with the Void at an early age and trained with the Isawa...until one day her mind was damaged. She was saved by her brother and is now on the run.

Book - Brotherhood of Shinsei - Seppun Guardsman/Order of Heroes Monk - Chosho

A passenger on the ship with a mysterious past and some unexplainable Imperial credentials. He tries to provide spiritual guidance to those on board.

Inara -Crane Clan - Doji Courtier/Silken Promises Geisha - Doji Hikari

A geisha from a prominent okiya, Hikari travels with the crew and gives them some prestige.

Just an update, I've decided to change stuff. The Tams, River and Simmons will be Phoenix. Inara will be a Crane. Wash will be an Ide trader and Jayne will be Mantis.

In Rokugan, the Firefly Clan was a Minor Clan founded by Shinjo Jainu. Due to the size of the territory he had to patrol, Jairu had hired ronins with his own salary, creating regular patrols in the area. Jainu's men pushed back a small invasion force of allied Yobanjin tribes that had their ships pushed there by a storm. The barbarians were destroyed with the aid of Seppun reinforcements.
In 1152, the Emperor Toturi I granted Jainu his own Minor Clan. Jainu named it the Firefly, for the fires they had maintained along the coast, and took the family name Hotaru from Jainu's father, Shinjo Hotaru. The Ancestral Sword of the Firefly Clan, Hikari, was gifted from the Emperor’s hand to Jainu.
The Phoenix were allied to the Firefly Clan, providing crops in return for the protection the Firefly provided them. When the Emerald Empire took to the stars, the Firefly fought with the Phoenix to colonise planets and in return in 2870 the Firefly were given their own world, Shijima, with the promise that the Phoenix would come to their aid if needed.
In 3110, the Lion Clan expanded their borders in the War of Fire and Fury. Shijima was overrun by the massive Lion army and aid from the Phoenix, thought promised, did not arrive. The last Champion of the Firefly Clan, Hotaru Sagara, committed seppuku and the clan was declared extinct by Emperor Iweko CXII. The Ancestral Sword of the Firefly Clan, Hikari, was lost.
