"Pirates?" Ketaan's voice perks up through the coms. "Try to leave one alive," Tai-Wen and Ariel say in unison. "Yes, yes." Tai-Wen's active scanners ripple momentarily as the Baraunghars weapon systems receive power, lines of electricity snapping and arcing over the not-quite-perfect lines of the Koshuud modifications to the traditional design. Now that the conduits are visible, their erratic patterns utterly destroy the smooth symmetry of the ships, aesthetic discarded for functionality swiftly enough to make a delicate Doji of times gone by faint dead away. "Sound off. Daybreak, blisters loaded." Several ports retreat from the surface of the fighter, irises spinning open as the shimmering Radiant shield wreaths the purple ship in a lair of green. "Sky-eyes, reinforcing." Within his cockpit, Ariel magnetizes his codex, yanking down the scrolls and thumbing through them until he finds what he is looking for. Muttering the prayers as he traces one hand down the characters, he directs the flow of energy to Ketaan's vessel. ((Ketaan receives Silent Waters: Stand Against the Waves)) "Vanguard, green across the board." The vacuum of space eats the sound all to easily. Only within Ketaan's cockpit can the sinister hum of plasma being excited be heard, and there, it is drowned out by the music.((OOC: Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!))

As the beacon triggered, space seemed to shimmer like a curtain caught in sunlight, and then suddenly a small fleet of ships jumped into the system. They outnumbered the Samurai ships, however they lacked a Cruiser, just having a Corvette...admittedly one that looked far more heavily armed then it should be possible with a ship that size, and an escort of 8 fighters.
As they arrived in the system, the coms system came to life, indicating some sort of message.
The subject line, explaining why they wished to talk was simple: 'We were paid to monologue...but its no skin off our nose if you refuse to listen.'
((I suspect we may want to roll Initiative soon, even if we are talking for the moment.))

"Wait one, Wake Angels. I can try to talk to them a bit, if that's ok. Not fluent in their language, but.. I know enough not to cause offense and they may know more." Naosuko says, donning some rather gaudy jewelry as she speaks. "They can probably understand us ok though, so no secrets or signals."

"Daigotsu-sama, are you able to perform the ritual from here? If Naosuko can keep their attention for a while, we may yet have time to get what we need and get out of here before they start firing on us."

(OoC: is the mentioned ritual a specific spell I need to cast, or how does that work? ) The notion that they would be fleeing amused the Spider, though he had manners enough not to show it. "Here should be fine, Asako-san."

"As you will." Ketaan's voice contains a note of restrained energy, and the weapon systems on the ship do not power down, but neither does radiant energy pour forth to wreak havoc. ((Initiative: Ketaan 42 Ariel 38 Tai-Wen 14))

All of the lights on the Nōchirasu light up at once. They illuminat the murals on the sides of the ship and shine rays out in front of it, defiant of the bright star of Daigotsu 5768b. Naosuko appears again on the comms, standing out about as much as her ship does with sparkling jewlery and a Royal blue, golden trimmed kimono. The camera pans out, showing the ostentatious accommodations of her cockpit. Is.. is that a chandelier? She takes a moment, then speaks in a strange clinking language. "<Profitable Greetings. Great merchants of black waves.>" She says, making a hand motion of rubbing two coins together. "<We hear. I listen. You have good words?>" I-I listen. You talk-talk. A hologram appears, revealing a slightly humanoid creature, short, with an enlarged head, with even larger ears and three eyes, its body covered in Black Chiten. Most noticeably it had the pointed teeth of a predator, "<Profitable Greetings, Child of the Emerald Star>" She replies, making the same gesture. While the creature lacks any physical signs of being a female, Naosuko knows from its voice it is. "However I suspect this would go better in your language Samurai...chan?" She pauses, and then shakes her head, "Suffixes are not something I fully grasped." Despite this their is a slight hint of confidence that suggests she knows EXACTLY what she is saying.
"Now, I have been hired to destroy you all, but frankly, thats a waste of perfectly good technology and material, as well as probably a few good ransom options. So if you will all surrender, after I deal with this prepaid Monologue," The creature rolls its eyes, "I will make sure you eventually get back to the Empire and your ships are processed and recycled and reprocessed into new warships. Guaranteed chance of revenge against those who hired me is surely better for you then destruction."
The creature doesn't give its name and Naosuko knows that that she won't. The Zenijin consider names to be a sign of trust, for you can make far more profit off ransoming someone once you have their name.

"Why that no good..." Tai-Wen slams a fist down on her console, then taps out the frequency for the shared channel with the team. "Oy, Kasuga-san. I'm going to need you to relay a message as to what that plated hull-clinger can do with her deal..."
Ketaan listens as Tai-Wen enthusiastically describing improbable feats of anatomically astonishing flexibility into the group coms mingles with Ariel's protests that they should at least hear this monologue before taking action, and tunes them both out as he eyeballs the space in between the intrepid crew and the pirates. Or messengers. Or however they chose to style themselves. It would be a dead giveaway to analyze all of this with active scanners, but experience is often enough to give an edge in such calculation. His head bobs in time to the music bouncing about his cockpit, and his lips curl into an evil half-smile as he flicks the safety on and off of a joystick-mounted button-trigger. The button glows a sinister green every time it is revealed, only to be covered and revealed again. The gloved hand that toys with the instrument of destruction almost seems to ripple every time the green light meets the silvery metal. He is patient for now. But only just.
"...with a Radiant power drill!" Tai-Wen finishes triumphantly. "And say it in her tongue so it really sticks to her chitin!"

Naosuko listens intently to Tai-Wen, ignoring the screen while holding up a single finger in the universal "I'm talking to someone more important than you, then I'll order my coffee" sign. Finally, she looks up again, continuing the conversation. "Flattery will get you nowhere, Zenijin-san. You cannot have the secret to my youth." Naosuko feigns a coy blush, "Kasuga-chan is quite happy with your unintended compliment." "Unicorn <have counter offer.>" Naosuko continues, "<You give monologue. In return,> Unicorn <send you this.>" She makes a gesture with her fingers, meaningless to Rokugani but rather obscene to Zenijin. "<If no good, apprentice trader, we negotiate with manager.>" Let me talk to corporate. Lore: Gaijin/Awareness, Raise. 8k4: 8d10o10k4 30

Certainly a colorful vocabulary...
While the negotiations were commencing, Enshiro took the opportunity to attempt to revert the sensors back to normal, with Kokishin's aid with the coding.
