In the cargo bay of the Warren, Tetsuko practiced her katas. She had practised thoroughly that morning but after what had happened on the planet, the weakness she had shown in front of the others.
She couldn't let that happen again.
and that wasn't all, the confrontation earlier. It had gone badly, though she wasn't quite know what to do about it.
I miss Nobu, he would know what to do, Tetsuko thought as she continued her katas.

The ronin Shinwa comes down to the cargo bay. He has left his trenchcoat in his room, and is dressed in a plain, gray gi, though he bears his daisho on his hip. He does not speak to the practicing Hida, instead giving her a very wary glance. First he goes over to check the chains on the Camel to make sure they are properly secure after the hasty liftoff. He frowns at the damaged rear lifts, but he hopes Nanashi will be able to fix it. Then, without another word, he goes to a separate open space in the cargo bay and begins his own kata, performing them, as he did first thing in the morning, in an extremely, excruciatingly slow manner which causes even the slightest twitch to become exaggerated into a major flaw. His eyes are focused on some space in the distance and his breathing is slow and controlled, radiating a perfect calm.

Anyone who walks by the garden will see an odd sight hanging between the fish tanks. Nanashi hangs there upside down. His feet stuck between two pipes that go overhead. A casual look might have you thinking that he is meditating like a bat but he quickly begins doing sit-ups while suspended a few feet from the deck. The goldfish in the tank next to him seems to watch him intently while swimming up and down with Nanashi's rhythm.

She obviously want to speak to him.

Shinwa comes to the end of his set, finally, and slides his katana back into his saya. After pressing his hands together and closing his eyes for a moment in some sort of final prayer or meditation, he turns to find Tetsuko watching him. Waiting to speak with him.
Still coming from that place of calmness, he says, "Tetsuko-sama."

The ship's captain has not been seen since most of the crew left on the Camel to investigate the ice planet—he is presumably locked in his room with the door securely fastened against entry.
The fatigued Shiba Itsuki remains at the central console on the bridge, taking The Warren to its next destination, at least until he can be relieved by someone else willing to pilot.
Sheba Itsuki has not been seen or heard from since Tetsuko insulted his clan. The Warren has remained still in space, unmoving, since.
Kakashi is nowhere to be seen. However, if one were to listen very, very quietly, one might just hear the occasional giggle from a passionfruit in the garden that blinks every few minutes...

Still coming from that place of calmness, he says, "Tetsuko-sama." Tetsuko wasn't good with confrontations, with resolving that was. Unable to find the words that would help with what had happened, she decides to say nothing at all about it. "Shinwa-san," she said a little stiffly. "What we encountered on the planet...I noticed seemed very knowledgable, more than I would expect from a ronin. I would be interested in knowing what experiences you have had to give you this."

Shinwa's calm does not fade, but he pulls his forelock and gives a small bow in the very symbol of ronin abasement before a superior. There is a tension, an anger, in the gesture and he does not lower his eyes.
"Some of the great clans show their compassion by permitting even lowly ronin into certain, public, parts of their libraries. If I have learned anything, Hida-sama, it is due to those clans' generosity."
Despite the deferential gesture, his words and pose are elegant, even proud.
"On the planet, I may have known no more than you did. It seemed it would be better to not ask questions of an Oracle, but allow the Oracle to correct our mistakes of his own will. The stories only described ever getting one question. One would not want to accidentally use it by mistake asking a question for which the answer could already be discerned."

"That seems wise," Tetstuko said with a nod. "I feel fortunate to be with you, Shinwa-san for this task, despite the...circumstances of our last meeting." Tetsuko looked down, she was beginning to respect Shinwa and wasn't used to being polite.

Shinwa straightens, an uncertain look in his eyes as though this was not something he expected the Hida to say at all. However, wariness about Tetsuko's actions earlier do not permit him to allow any doubt to show. "You are being generous, Tetsuko-sama. Thank you."
He looks almost as though he would like to say more, but stops himself short. He leaves it at, "I look forward to the time when circumstances might be better."
He gives another small bow.

Shinwa's attitude confused Tetsuko a little. She was used to giving people orders and them accepting them without comment. This...was entirely new to her and she didn't quite know what to say.

Taking the Hida's silence as a sign that she has said everything she wished to say, Shinwa turns and looks towards the crew lounge. "I will go check on Nanashi-san and see if he has learned anything else out from the scanners." He gives a short bow and departs.

Tetsuko watched Shinwa go. She knew she would have to be careful over the next few days after what had happened. There was something she could do, she went off in search of that probe.
