"The Tortoise has the right of this. Are the scanners picking anything up?" Enshiro asks to whoever is manning the post.

When Naosuko first starts talking, for a brief moment it seems like it wont work. Once again the things flick on, then flick off again. However she does notice that the flicker happens at the start of the message, like its being intercepted, before being approved for transmission. Using that, while telling her story she keeps removing and pressing the talk button, and in quick succession causes the 4 echoes in the solar system to light up light a beacon. Forming a rough square orbits 4 tiny satellites, each probably no larger then a Kemari ball, at approximately 2 AU from the host star. This is definitely not Rokugani technology, however without getting a closer look at one, their would be no way to tell what it is.
Enshiro's scanners, having data from Spider archives figured out exactly what the material was that was floating in space.
SCANNERS DETECT: 'OBSIDANITE' WARNING: OBSIDANITE AT STANDARD TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE BEGINS TO VAPORIZE INTO A GASEOUS FORM. BREATHING IN THESE FUMES HAS MANY SIDE EFFECTS INCLUDING Redacted AND Redacted AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD redacted.
CURRENT STATUS: ALL DOCUMENTED OBSIDANITE HAS BEEN HANDED OVER TO THE JADE MAGISTRATES AFTER TALKS WITH JADE CHAMPION, ISAWA MINHO, AS OF THE MONTH OF THE ROOSTER 2803. Redacted: UNKNOWN. GYUSHI KWAN CURRENTLY MIA
DESTRUCTION CONSIDERED BLASPHEMOUS AGAINST THE OBSIDIAN MOON. SHOULD OBSIDANITE BE LOCATED, PLEASE CONTACT THE GYUSHI ENGINEERS.
How much any document such as this is accurate is difficult to say. It was on the least secure part of the Spider mainframe, a general popup that appeared as soon as the scanners hit the substance, so even the most brash, unsubtle or stupid of the Spider could get at this general warning should their scanners find this in their scopes.
After clearing the warning, in the same general cloud of Obsidanite fragments is fragments of a non metallic substance, as previously detected. Possibly blasted off something, given the tiny dust like size. Regardless, it seems almost certain that at the center of this small cloud of fragments was the vanished space station.

"Oh dear," Kokishin says. "That is not a material I have heard of before. The warning says they are safe as long as they are solid though, and out in space we don't have to worry about pressure, but I'm concerned about the ship heating up the fragments as we fly through. I don't believe there's any other choice, though, if the space station is in there."

"Aha, a side trip." Naosuko face brightens a bit, "Koshuud-sama, I know we said that we aren't Chuubushi, but there's something I just gotta pick up out there." The lights on the exterior of the Nochirasu flicker a bit. "Oh, not now. Bad ship, calm down." "Hate to ask, but could you all do a flyby? I hope nothing came loose." Get my drift? "Mmm," Tai-Wen's murmured affirmative comes through on the standard delay as she is already peeling off to examine the outside of the the freighter. Her fighter does a quick loop, analyzing the hull with a scanner sweep as it does. Anything broken?"Looks like your secondary power relay could use reinforcing. Your emergency array has an exposed wire and it's arcing. Cheap and easy fix."

As Tai-wan does a sweep, and looks for anything out of the ordinary, she notices something. The flashing lights don't seem to be random, like a broken part of the ship. Flicker, flicker, long flash, flicker, long flash. Its almost as if... Long flash, long flash, flicker, pause flicker, flicker. That is definitely Morse Code. As she does a second sweep of the hull she quickly gets to work translating it. Meanwhile on the Bridge of the Obsidian Truth, an Ashigaru, more really an educated heimin then anyone who had seen formal combat training, pauses and stares at the view port at the Tortoises broken ship. His superior officer is just about to tell him to stop staring and get back to work, before he turns and walks over to the Daigotsu, and Asako. Kow-towing before the master of the ship, he said, "A thousand appologises, both for interrupting and violating the chain of command, but we just received a Morse code message from Kasuga-sama's vessel. It says exactly..." Two people, two different ships, repeat the same words at the same time, "Gaijin maybe listening." ((OOC: Morse Code Translation: 4d10o10k3 35))

"Sky-Eyes?" Tai-Wen says, absentmindedly tapping her finger against the dash of the ship in time as she rotates a dial on the side of her coms, switching to a short-range band carried only to the Baraunghars. "Already recording." "Vanguard." "Defensive perimeter, got it." The Wake Angel's ships sweep out into a seemingly random flight pattern, Tai-Wen's ship still circling the freighter, mirrored on the opposite side by Ariel so that they don't miss any variation. Meanwhile, Ketaan spins his ship in a wide arc, riding the edge of the motley fleet and staring out into space in anticipation. In her cockpit, Tai-Wen taps her finger and stares, her mind working furiously. "Really though, it's apprentice work," She says as the coms once again transmit on general frequencies. "Any shipyard wrencher can fix it in ten minutes with a bit of bailing wire and glue. Nothing we can do about it out here though, too much background radiation from the star for a walk. And speaking of background, KETAAN. TURN YOUR FUCKING MUSIC DOWN. I CAN'T HEAR MYSELF THINK." "What?" the startled voice comes through for a half a second before comprehension sets in. "Sorry I thINK MY COMS MAY HAVE GOTTEN DAMAGED BY THE FLARE. I CAN'T TURN THEM DOWN." As loud music fills the general channels, Ariel's ship comes to a stop in front of the Nochirasu at the same time that Ketaan's slows to a halt before the bridge of the Obsidian Truth. Both of them flicker lights from inside their respective cockpits, communicating in the same primitive language now that it has been established. "We read you. Plan?" Currently filling the com channel

"Excellent. You were right to bring this to me. I suppose we should watch our communications, then. Or maybe we could use this to deceive anyone listening in..." His mind works, though he is distracted by the message regarding the Obsidanite. There were some engineers on the Obsidian Truth. Perhaps they should come up to the bridge...
Enshiro commands a subordinate, "Get the lead engineer up to the bridge." Perhaps they could harvest the material? At the very least, it might earn some favor with some sort of official.
He nods at the lights the Unicorn Fighter is flashing. He looks to the same subordinate who relayed to him the original message and tells him to reply, "Waiting for engineer. Be careful of detrius."

As the Unicorn and Toirtoise plan, the lead Gyushi engineer comes to the bridge. A man scarred from both battle and his own experiments, Gyushi Jūn should have retired and if not, should be assigned to a Katana class ship. However his refusal to give up his trade meant retiring was off the table, and the man had issues with the command structure, meaning he would never give the captain of those effective floating castles the respect they deserve.
Bowing, but only just, the man speaks, his lips black from some sort of gaijin tobacco product he likes to chew, "You wanted to seem me Daigotsu-sama." How he discovered this stuff, let alone how he continues to get it, given the Unicorn are enemies of the Spider is a question that has been asked multiple time, and never answered to your, or his previous superiors satisfaction.

Enshiro bows back to the engineer. "Indeed Gyushi-sama. Our scanners have picked up traces of a material: Obsidanite. There was a notification on our systems to contact the Gyushi. And so here we are. I ask you here for your knowledge and expertise in this matter."
Enshiro catches the engineer up on the rest of information they have on the situation.

Ooc: For clarity's sake, am I present to participate in you and the gyushi's conversation or are you talking with him in private and leaving me to communicate with the kasuga and the unicorn?

(OoC: we're not in private and we're probably using our normal voices. I imagine that you're still nearby, so I'll leave it up to you what you want to do. Though, I don't know if he'll censor himself around a non-Spider.)
