Taking precautions, Tetsuko decided to don her Atsuryoku armour to check out the probe. Tetsuko entered the airlock to see the probe. She first started out by just examining it, working out tn he best way to extract its data.

In Tetsuko's peripheral vision, there is a hint of movement. When she turns or tries to focus on this new stimulus, she cannot find the source.
There is a coldness in the airlock, one that the Hida's temperature regulator is not even trying to negate. It begins to seep into her bones, spine noticing it more sharply than anywhere else.

Based on the small amount of smoke emitting from the probe, the randomly pressed buttons and the bizarre combinations of pixels making half the probes display fully black and the other half a twisted mess of half displayed and overlapping Kanji, the thing is overloaded, quite badly. MAYBE a high quality electrical engineer could fix it, depending what it looks like on the inside, but the probes software is trying to respond to nonfunctional or at least compromised hardware. If you are lucky, you could get it to reboot...MAYBE. Most likely such an attempt could cause it to cook something else unless 'instructions' Kakashi imputted are undone...which would require you to know what the dozens of blank buttons that seemingly randomly cover the probe actually do.
However, their is some other things clearly noticeable. The probe is poorly built, and its likely very easy to break into. Its also covered in what appear to be tiny carvings of what appear to be Samurai. On the steel coating they stood out as each one was a red-brown color. In fact looking closely...
Was that blood?

Tetsuko examining the carvings more carefully, trying to make out what they say.

They are definitely Samurai, and they are definately covered in glyphs, however the glyphs are a minor part of the deeper carving and thus when the probes hit the Atmosphere, they seemed to have taken the worst of the damage. However, some glyphs survive. The most common and repeating one is where each little carved Samurai's Mon should be. Its a single Kanji. ((OOC: If my googlefu is serving me well, that should be the Kanji for Lotus.)) Other then that one glyph, nothing on the display or on the buttons is clear enough to make out and most of them are completely unmarked.

"Lotus?" Tetsuko said aloud. And with blood, this made it immediately suspect. She tried to remember from her knowledge of the Shadowlands the meaning it may have. Would it have any effect on the functionality of the probe? Who could have done this?

Tetsuko's can't think of any connection. If their is one she has never heard of it.
And to be fair that makes a degree of sense. The Lotus, even among those who know nothing of flower language, is a symbol of purity. Its the WORST nickname a Crab Maiden can get when going through schooling. The idea that the Lotus could be connected to the Shadowlands is so outlandish that the Crab Clan children have turned it into a joke.

Smiling with amusement to herself, Tetsuko examined the probe's functionality, seeing if there was a way it could be activated or its data extracted. She knew this was risky, but wanted to see if she could do it without it blowing up in her face.

There is the sound of heavy footsteps on the rungs coming down towards the airlock doors. Some distant words said, hard to make out from here, and then the sound of footsteps /climbing/ those rungs back up to the cockpit again.
Dodged the bullet...for the moment.

Nanashi finds himself at the airlock. He sips on his soda and looks....irritated.

He arrives just as Tetsuko says "Lotus?" Then she turns around and looks at him, a little confused

Tetsuko frowned. "I am not one for flowers, but this probe is." She held out the mangled probe to him inscribed with the kanji character.

Nanashi looks at it and the fist thing he notices, besides the kanji is that there is blood on it.
"Is that blood?" He says, gesturing with the soda.

Tetsuko nods, her tone is serious. "I'm not sure what it does, but it can't be good. No one worth their powder would do something like this without some unclean intent."
