Somehow the motley field team has managed to make it back aboard the Warren.
The first thing that strikes Shinwa is how M'thack-kir has retreated to his rooms. He gives a small sigh, more out of empathy for the nezumi's grief than any frustration at his absence. But the ship has not gotten to know everyone yet anyway. He moves to escort Doji Kaiden out of his seat. "If you would like to fetch a fresh yakuta, I have a medical kit in the crew lounge. Let us get you fixed up. I regret to say that there will not likely be any noble scars, even without the aid of the kami." His voice is fairly deadpan.
"Tetsuko-san, Nanashi-san...let us meet in the lounge also and determine the best course from there."
He let's Kaiden stop to get a fresh Yakuta if he wishes at his cabin, then continues on to the crew lounge. There he opens one of the side panels and finds, buried and dusty behind what appears to be a pile of jute netting, a serviceable medical kit.
He takes it out, raises the table, and lays it on the table. Then he signals the room's commlink to Shiba Itsuki. "If you are holding up all right, Itsuki-sama, I can patch you in on this conversation. But if you are too tired for a few jumps, you should see if you can set us in a stable orbit and get some rest. Nanashi-sama might be able to monitor for visitors from the terminal in here for a few hours."

There is a delay in Itsuki's reply. "Iie, not tired."
Such a thing would bring shame on his ancestors, and he has already inflicted enough of that upon them.
"Please patch me in, though. I could use the company." Not knowing about the spiritual link's power, Itsuki makes a subtle inference to his concern over the captain's absence from the bridge.
It's possible the others do not notice it, but Rik slinks into the lounge via the intraship network of netting, and sits watchful from above.

"I will patch you in. I promise I will speak to Kiru-san soon. When he is ready." He opens the communication channel hopefully without issue and then opens the medical kit. [OOC: Medicine roll for Doji Kaiden, if he accepts: Medicine/Int = 23 Heal for 1d10 damage = 2] His healing may not offer much good, but at least once everything is bandaged up you can't see the bruises any more.

Tetsuko sits down without a word, still feeling slightly ashamed of what happened down there.

Kakashi the "I can't believe it's not a Shiba Inu" appears out of nowhere, floating beside the table. He smiles at Shinwa.
"I brought a toy that the captain found on the planet. It's in the airlock. I didn't have time to fetch the others before The Warren made to leave the atmosphere. I would like it when you are done with it, please."
He refers to the deactivated probe that he physically carried to the ship's airlock, knowing it would be unwise to play havoc with the airlock system while the ship is in flight.

Shinwa gives the Shinu Inu a look, letting slip that he is off-guard about this particular revelation. Still, to the hero goes the dues....he rubs the spirit behind the ears. "Well done."
To the comm, he asks Shiba Itsuki, "What 'toys' were out there for Kakashi to find? What happened?"

"An unidentifiable ship arrived in the system while we were landing to retrieve you. It skimmed the surface of our planet to drop probes, then jumped away before the captain could discern clan colours. I believe Kakashi brought one of the probes aboard, but the computers indicate it is inert at present."

"All right..." He exhales slowly. "We will need to take a look at that probe and see if we can figure out anything about it. I don't think any of us are experts, but we can see what we can figure out. Other than that...
"First, we need to get on the scanners and see how many probes are active, see if there are any transmissions, and see if we can still see the lifesign for Asahina Hana down there. Hopefully we can. "Then, I would like to get us to a temporarily safe harbor. I am sure that Kiru-san would prefer to go straight to a Phoenix port, though if there has been a ship with probes or anything else potentially tracking us that might quickly give away our colors. Maybe we can lose ourselves in the traffic by the busiest Phoenix hub we can find, I suppose. But a Phoenix port is not our final destination. My thinking is that we need to first research and find out what we can about Asahina Hana. Who she was and what she was studying.
"Beyond that...from what the Oracle hinted at for where we could find the paperwork..." He pulls out his notebook from his pocket and reads off..."You seek a world that is a prison. A place where failures go to die. But these failures are not Samurai, in fact they aren't really even alive. The green of the grass long ago gave way to the gold of the tanish, the only sign of those who claim this world. But the world is forbidden as so many are, although no Emperor has done so, a sin of honour. Still, amoung the chemicals, machines, monsters and beasts, hides one piece of parchment, older then all else. Invulnerable to all that world throws at it, its power absolute, this parchment you seek will be hidden away. But be warned humble Doji, this world is a source of shame, and its masters don't know that it hides the scroll you seek to claim. They fear failure and that's what this world shows. They have lost so much standing already, to risk this world being publicly exposed. But should those named for the traitor reveal this world to you, the last step is simple....find the largest machine you can, an ancient wreak, and pray that it stays asleep, as you seek its greatest jewel."
"To me that sounds like the junkyard of an clan that has lost much standing and fears failure. They can't afford to have this world exposed. Named for the traitor...that is a challenge. The family name is that of a traitor. But one person's treason is another's patriotism, I suppose. I'll take any guesses you have beyond this point."

"..."
There is brief static as Itsuki mutes comms in the bridge to swear in privacy, before his voice returns.
"We are searching for the Dark Covenant? Is...is that wise?"

"Dark Covenant?" Tetsuko asks. "Tell me more of this."

"Each Oracle is bound by a Covenant. If a mortal possesses it, they can command the Oracle to do whatever they ask. The most notable use was in the time of the Toturi dynasty, before we ever ventured into the stars. All Phoenix and Dragon know the story of the only conflict our two clans have ever truly had."
There is a brief pause.
"An Oracle of Light told you of this? It means the Dark Oracle has free rein to do likewise regarding the Light Covenant...if that isn't implied proof of the dire situation the Empire is in, I do not know what is."

"What about this world we seek?" Tetsuko asked. "The one named for the traitor."

"Not world. 'They'. A people named for a traitor." Shinwa interjects, but he is mostly listening attentively.

It's several seconds of silence before Itsuki realises Tetsuko's question might have been directed at him specifically.
"I don't know anything about traitors. If you aren't sure, we might need the captain, or a loremaster, perhaps."

Tetsuko looked around, hoping to see Kiru somewhere.
